Thank you to all of our sponsors and participants!
2010 was a great event with perfect weather and exciting fishing – scroll down for our daily event log.
Please plan to fish our next tournament and revisit this site for changes to our program.

HOLD YOUR CALENDAR DATES:
June 15 – 19, 2011

Notes for 2010…

Well we are off to a great start for our 30th anniversary with 62 boats registered on the first evening and great weather for the fishing days (but added another on Thursday for a total of 63). It was really great seeing long time friends and even some folks who fished our earliest tournaments. We have a lot of great memories from our past events and appreciate those who shared those times with us. It’s hard to believe that it has been 30 years…but we keep trying to step-it-up so you have a great time and a memorable tournament. Thanks for joining us and we wish you good fishing!

CAPTAIN’S MEETING RECAP – 2010

Applebee’s Restaurant catered our registration and captain’s meeting and did an outstanding job! Great food and great people…please visit them for lunch or dinner on your layday. We will be passing out discount coupons for Applebee’s during our weigh-ins and if you visit, you might be one of the lucky ones that get one of these. Thanks Derek and the Rose Group!!!

There were a lot of great giveaway items in the “goodies bag” like great samples from The Buck Bomb…including scrape tape, the detonator and scent cans. Buck Bomb is the premier scent for the avid outdoorsman – with products for deer, elk and many more. It’s the best way to get them in close. We got a lot of great feedback from having Buck Bomb products in the bags last year and for our spectators that hunt. Thanks Rick!!!

During the captain’s meeting, Mark spent a lot of time discussing our new approach to images for documenting releases, catches and fishing in general. In short, we are going digital. Teams were encouraged to bring a digital camera to take pictures of the crew, releases, boated fish, and an occasional video clip of releases which will be downloaded at dockside and shown to the spectators on large flat screen TVs. With this process, we hope to give spectators a chance to see the released fish and get a better sense of a fishing day for a team. We are really excited about this technology and considering that every 9 out of 10 fish are released, there should be a lot to see!

THURSDAY RECAP

The weather was great and a little less than one-half of the tournament fleet fished today. We also added a one-day entry so our number is now up to 63!!!

At the scales, we saw six makos brought in. The top fish was delivered by the crew of the “All In” with a 471 pounder – a huge first place on the first day! In second place was the crew of the “Crush ‘Em” with a 248 pound entry and third place was the crew of the Shark Tooth with a 234 pound fish.

In the Open Division there was only one blue shark entry weighing in at 192 pounds from the crew of the “Real-N & Deal-N”.

In the bluefish division the top fish was an 11.5 pound entry from the crew of the “Keep Er Wet”. The second place entry was 9.8 pounds and was caught by the crew of the “Wizzy”. Third place goes to the crew of the “Shark Tooth” with a 9.4 pounder – which just beat out the 9.4 pounder from “Keep Er Wet”, by arriving at the scales earlier.

No entries for the tuna division – it is wide open for this “winner-take-all” category.

RELEASE POINTS REPORTED FOR THURSDAY:
4 – Keeper Wet
1 – Hookin’ Wubbas
1 – Rain E Daze

Please note: everyone that participates is eligible for the Release Division payouts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!!! Remember to photograph, document and call in those releases to a committee boat – or any tournament boat that you can reach may serve as a verification for the release. If you are taking information for someone else’s catch and “serving as a committee boat”, all that is needed is to write the information onto an unused area of your release sheet. For example, many teams doing this in the past have written on the back of the page and turned it in that day. You might not think you have a chance to win the release Division – BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!

FRIDAY RECAP

Today was a perfect fishing day – light breeze great temperature and most of the tournament fleet fished.

There is no entry for the tuna division so it is still wide open!!!

No changes to report for the mako category.

Today at the scales many bluefish entries were received with the largest at 11.9 for the crew of the “Something Fishy II” for a new first place. Second place is still the 11.5 for the crew of the “Keep Er Wet” from yesterday and an 11.2 pounder for the crew of the “Fish Box” put them in 3rd place. A 10.1 pounder was boated by the crew of the “Seaduction” and a 9.9 pounder was boated by the crew of the “It’ll Do II”. The crew of the “Triple Threat” boated a 9.7 pounder and the crew of the “Shark Tooth” .

In the Open Division, a 290 pound Thresher was boated by the crew of the “Teaser” for a new first place. Second place is holding steady from Thursday with the 192 pound Blue Shark caught by the crew of the “Real-N & Deal-N”. Third place is a 158 pound Blue Shark caught aboard the “White Lightning”. Fourth place is a 151 pound Blue caught by the crew of the “Restless Lady” and and 85 pounder was boated by the crew of the “Seaduction”.
